Call of Duty: Black Ops Console-Only 'Prestige Edition' Packs Video-Transmitting RC Car
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 12, 2010 9:00am PDTCall of Duty: Black Ops publisher Activision has announced Xbox 360 and PS3-only 'Hardened' and 'Prestige' editions of Treyarch's shooter, with the latter packing a remote-controlled car that transmits audio and video to its operator.
The Hardened Edition of Cod: Blops includes "a custom Black Ops limited edition medal, exclusive Black Ops Avatar outfit, as well as four playable cooperative maps."
The Prestige Edition, meanwhile, has all of the Hardened's goodies plus "an entirely original remote controlled surveillance vehicle inspired by the RC-XD from Black Ops Multiplayer." The toy has a range of up to 200 feet and transmits TFT color video and audio to the pistol-grip controller. Is that better or worse than night vision goggles?
Activision did not announce pricing, though retailers list the Hardened Edition at $79.99 and the ridiculous Prestige Edition at $149.99. Cod: Blops is due to be released worldwide on November 9 in PC, Xbox 360, PS3, DS and Wii flavours.
