Shack PSA: QuakeCon Steam Sale Brings id and Bethesda Bargains, Starting With Oblivion
by Alice O'Connor, Aug 12, 2010 8:00am PDTTo celebrate id Software's fragging festival QuakeCon 2010, all of the Doom and Quake creator's games are taking part in a special sale on Steam along with games from Fallout 3 developer and id's fellow Zenimax Media subsidiary Bethesda.
A string of one-day-only sales is running, starting with 66% off The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Bethesda's open-world RPG can be had for $6.79 with the 'Knights of the Nine' and 'Shivering Isles' expansions included, or for $8.49 packing all its DLC too.
You can also go big and splash out $69.99 to buy a grand twenty-seven id and Bethesda games--ranging from Commander Keen and Quake to Fallout 3 and Doom 3--in the QuakeCon 2010 Pack, saving a whopping $233.25 over the individual prices.
The Oblivion offer will run until 9am PST tomorrow, at which point a new deal will arrive.
QuakeCon 2010 starts today at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas and will end on Sunday. Shacknews is, of course, in attendance to bring you all you hot goss.

Seriously, Oblivion is like the worst game and QUake is like the best game.
It is like every one forgot about their god damn roots

These sales won't fund your dreams of studio expansion and industry domination unless the PC platform gets a lot healthier but it can add some nice padding to your bottom line.

Nice idea for a steam sale, I got surprised when I saw it... and yeah, I'm still feeling stupid because I bought that Morrowind+Oblivion bundle when they were released for like 10% or 20% off, thinking that "aaah, Bethesda won't discount these further... not in 2 or 3 years". Aaargh.
Maybe Fallout 3 GotY will go 66% off, that's $16.99. Then I'll feel stupid again, falling for these sales.
Id love me some Steam Oblivion, but a lot of the mods use the Script Extender.
