Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 Cancelled on PSP
by Xav de Matos, Aug 11, 2010 11:00am PDTFor those of you looking forward to using your Force abilities on Sony's handheld, LucasArts has some bad news. Although it was originally scheduled to release on the PSP alongside its Nintendo DS, console and PC counterpart, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II for the PSP has been canceled.
According to IGN, the publishing giant would not comment further on the cancellation of the PSP version. All remaining versions of Starkiller's next adventure are scheduled to release on October 26, 2010.
When the original Star Wars: The Force Unleashed hit PSP in later 2008, it garnered mixed reviews from critics. It's unclear whether LucasArts cancelled the title due to profitability concerns or because development ran into issues. According to first quarter results provided by Sony, PSP software has seen a slight increase over last year.
Shacknews is attempting to use its own Force powers to sway a comment from LucasArts; however, we've yet to hear back from the company at the time of publishing.

With TFU2 skipping the PS2 entirely development of a PSP version was always going to be more difficult as it would require optimisation of a game fully designed for the Wii hardware. When Krome lost the TFU2 contract it went to a new developer and while the Wii game they are making looks great, they don't have a pre-existing PSP engine designed for the heavy physics calculations and so on. So the cost to make a PSP version would have gone up, which combined with drooping PSP software sales means that it likely wouldn't have made money.

Sorry, wasn't a fan. They get a little advice from the crew that did Jedi Academy and I might be interested.
