Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Soars on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Next Year

3
For the first time since the Xbox 360-exclusive Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation in 2007, Namco Bandai's flight-action series will make its way to HD platforms next year. Ace Combat: Assault Horizon was revealed last night in trailer form -- found after the break courtesy of GameSpot -- and brings the popular series back to the Xbox 360 and to the PS3 for the first time.

Currently in development at Project Aces, Assault Horizon is set to include sky-high single and multiplayer action and, according to the wording in the game's announcement trailer, will reboot the franchise. Sadly, additional details are scarce.

Other tidbits gleaned from the trailer point to destructible environments, helicopter action and quick-time events. QTEs? Finally! Nobody ever uses those in games anymore.

Quicktime events and helicopter gunning in MY ace combat? I mean, at this point I trust Project Aces not to screw things up, I guess, just seems weird.

Looks awesome though, nice to finally see destructive environments and stuff in Ace Combat.

Yeah, initial excitement aside, I'm a little worried, but optimistic.

Looks more like "hold /\ to view contextual camera angle" to me, since QTE really doesn't make sense if inserted here.

Also, why so many air squadron are called Nomad? Is it a reference?

would you perfer them all to be Iceman, and play shirtless volleyball on the beach?

I'm worried. I get the very distinct feeling of being On-Rails with what was shown.
