Remedy Wants to do Alan Wake 2, Would Remain Exclusive to Microsoft

Alan Wake developer Remedy would like to do a sequel with Microsoft and even though Remedy owns the rights to the franchise, any future games would remain Microsoft exclusive.

"Microsoft put a lot of beef behind [Alan Wake] for it to be an exclusive for the 360," said franchise development head Oskari Hakkinen in an interview with Eurogamer. "They feel it's an important title for their portfolio. It fits into their portfolio among other games like Gears of War, Halo and Forza."

Though the game debuted 8th on the NPD charts in the US following its release--up against Red Dead Redemption--Remedy announced in July that the studio was "very pleased" with the game's performance at retail. The studio felt that the franchise "has legs".

Though Hakkinen mentions that a sequel would be Microsoft-exclusive leaving the door open for a PC version, he stresses that it could go either way with a sequel and it doesn't mean a PC version of Alan Wake 2 would be guaranteed.

Remedy is currently working on more DLC for Alan Wake and "haven't had a chance to get out to Redmond, Microsoft Game Studios, and discuss anything further of how we move on," with regards to a full sequel.

Alan Wake is amazing. Get over your 360 fear and buy one. I use to be a PC only person until I found that consoles are amazing.

Ive found them to be a waste of money aka total opposite of "amazing". My 360 and PS3 gather dust.....well the PS3 does get used to watch Blue Rays

I have both, a 360 and a wii, and they both sit there most of the time gathering dust. My 360 hasn't red ringed yet probably because I never really use. I had thought about getting a ps3 one time, but when I look back at my other two consoles, there's really not a compelling reason why I would buy one.

I'm just bitter that Microsoft treats PC gaming so shitty when they essentially control it with windows. If an OS existed that ran all PC games I would have ditched windows a long time ago. Microsoft seems to be on this quest to get EVERYONE to convert to the XBOX and I will not do it. I enjoy the freedom I have with my PC over a console and their excuses about why Alan Wake was made a 360 only title was really fucking pathetic, I can only imagine maybe 2 percent of PC gamers actually believed it.

that's basically why I've sticked with Windows: games and certain applications.

Isn't it ironic that Sony supports the PC platform more than Microsoft? Just look at the Everquest series, the Agency, and DC Universe.

Damn straight. Don't listen to these pushers of compromise. Wait. Either they'll port it or the single-player-only Alan Wake'll drop down to $19.99 or lower prices. By that time, you should see another price drop in 360's and you'll be better off.

      You can't lose.
