True Crime: Hong Kong Release Pushed to 2011

It's true -- crime in Hong Kong has been put on hold until next year, as the upcoming reboot of the open-world franchise True Crime has been pushed to sometime in 2011. The Activision-published True Crime: Hong Kong was originally slated to hit stores in fall 2010.

The delay was revealed in Activision's Q2 2011 investor's report, where the publishing giant said the push to 2011 would "give the development team more time to deliver the high-quality entertainment experience they envision for the game." Essentially, the equivalent of "no comment" when detailing a reason for a video game delay.

True Crime: Hong Kong's release was always in the air, as neither developer United Front Games nor Activision would further detail its ambiguous "fall 2010" plans.

True Crime: Hong Kong now separates itself from this holiday's biggest titles including Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach; however, with multiple delays into 2011, the competition is looking just as fierce in the new year.

Screenshots looked surprisingly good for this one, and I love the idea of an open world game in Hong Kong.

  ...and the list of my "to purchase" games for 2010 grows shorter yet again. Damnit :(
  
  Hopefully they are pushing it back for quality reasons, though I bet it's because Activision doesn't want it to compete with Black Ops for a holiday sale.
  
  Dunno which I despise more now; music games, sports games, or Call of Duty titles. Gotta love market saturation. :-/

  True Crime was one of the few sandbox titles that featured fun hand-to-hand combat. Of course randomly frisking people in the street never got old either..
