Summer is a time for fun in the sun and, according to Sony, savings. This week's PlayStation Store update includes a handful of discounted downloadable titles under the banner of the PSN's "Summer Sale 2010."

Standouts on sale include PixelJunk Shooter for $4.99 (down from $9.99) and Fat Princess for $7.49 (down from $14.99) on the PS3, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for $14.99 (down from $29.99) and Patchwork Heroes for $4.99 (down from $9.99) on PSP, as well as the PS Mini version of Tetris for $4.99 (down from $9.99).

Also added to the store is the PlayStation 3 version of Earthworm Jim's high-def debut and new downloadable content for Modnation Racers, more Marvel costumes for LittleBigPlanet and the "Protector Trials" DLC for BioShock 2. The entire listing of this week's releases is available on the PlayStation Blog.

Sony has also announced that, for the foreseeable future, PlayStation Plus offers will be shifted to a bi-weekly schedule. New offers for subscribers to Sony's online premium service will come on August 10.
