Team17's Alien Breed: Impact is the star of Steam's latest 'Midweek Madness' sale, with a 50% discount bringing the top-down shooter to $7.49 or $11.24 for a two-pack.

Revamping the developer's classic 'Alien Breed' series, Impact features two-player co-op, upgradeable weapons and hordes of aliens to blast. It was released first on Xbox 360 as Alien Breed: Evolution then "expanded" for PC and PlayStation 3 as Impact.

Selling a top-down shooter on Steam can't be easy when the illustrious Valve's offering its own--Alien Swarm--for free but offering a 50% discount certainly should help. The offer runs until Thursday, August 5 and a demo is available for you to try before you buy.

From what I've heard, this isn't really like Alien Swarm. It's more focused on the single player aspect than the multiplayer aspect, so it cannot really be compared.

It must really hurt for the Alien Breed devs. Their game came out first but now everyone confuses anything with Alien xxx in the title with a top down perspective as Alien Swarm.
