Realtime Worlds Reveals Project: MyWorld
by Brian Leahy, Jul 29, 2010 12:30pm PDTComing off of the release of APB, Realtime Worlds is throwing us a curveball with Project: MyWorld, a "3D social gaming experience" set in a recreation of the real world.
The project is definitely a social experience with the trailer showing off Facebook-esque notifications corresponding to player actions.
The trailer also features building creation and customization as well as several minigames: driving, flying, and fishing. Certainly a departure from APB and the original Crackdown.
Project: MyWorld is scheduled for launch in 2011 and a closed beta should be kicking off shortly. If you want some virtual world creation until then, check out Minecraft.

Mine was more like Sim City meets The Sims. The users were supposed to create everything from scratch. It was community-based where nearby block owners could vote to demolish eyesores. Totally self-policing.
It would've made money on players trading/owning/renting real estate and taking a cut.
This game looks a little lamer (ahem, I mean... accessible) though where one person can make 100 buildings pretty easily with no indoors, which is lame.
They should hire me. I only live in Edinburgh.

Crackdown1 was so good. Just stick to action and blowing stuff up. The tech just isn't there for this kind of thing yet.
