Blizzard Details StarCraft 2 Bugs and Temporary Fixes

As with all games, there will be bugs at release. Blizzard has detailed the known issues in StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty on its forums as well as some workarounds for some of the issues.

Most notably, the game will crash if run in a Windows compatibility mode and there is a potential overheating issue if the player spends too much time looking at game "screens that are light on detail" as the "game has nothing to do so it is primarily just working on drawing the screen very quickly." This can include the game's main menu or other interface screens. A simple framerate cap is suggested as a workaround.

There are a few more issues, most revolving around specific software or behaviors. Are you having any issues with your shiny new copy of StarCraft II? What about on the Mac? Performance on a Mac during the beta was lagging behind the PC version, but I'm curious to find out if it evened out for launch.

  • Running like a champ for me. No issues at all. Install went smooth, game runs well.

    1920x1200 on Ultra quality

I did get a spot or two of slowdown so I may tweak it down slightly. In MP beta I had quality set down a bit, but I just updated drivers and downloaded the Crossfire profiles (I had never downloaded the CF profiles, whoops?). I'm a bit less sensitive to framerate in SP, but I do think overall performance is great for me.

I'm probably 8-9 missions in. Stopped playing last night after the mission with the giant laser thing against the Protoss.

I do notice it seems like when I exit the game my video card fans are spinning moderately fast when I get back to Windows desktop (not sure I can hear them over the background music in game), even when I've been staring at a menu for a few minutes, which seems to jive with the post.
