Blizzard Preps StarCraft 2 Players with Campaign and Battle.net 2.0 Overview Trailers
by Xav de Matos, Jul 26, 2010 9:48am PDTToday--otherwise referred to as the day the video game industry decided to keep quiet as people wait in line for StarCraft II--we bring you two videos released by Blizzard over the weekend, developed to prepare players for the upcoming RTS sequel. The first trailer gives players an overview of the first chapter in the StarCraft II trilogy. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty takes place four years after StarCraft: Brood War (originally released in 1998), and brings players face-to-face with classic characters Zeratul, Arcturus Mengsk, Artanis and Sarah Kerrigan; however, the star of the game (and the campaign overview trailer) is the grizzled solider James Raynor.
A video outlining the features of Battle.net 2.0 can be found after the jump.

Don't get me wrong, the multi-player is solid... but really just more of the same from SC 1. Better graphics. Some new units. New build orders to master - but the same familiar feel and game play. But the story of the new single player? I love getting engrossed in a good story line - and SC 1's story line was a great one. So I have high hopes.

The problem is that if it confines itself to the RTS label, many of the game's most epic story moments, will probably be just part of the cinematics. Basically, im doubtful as to whether the game can create a strong tie between the gameplay and the story (the cinematics.) Will the gameplay capture that epic feeling?

I wonder how they'll handle the "RPG" aspect of the 2nd expansion, and the diplomacy of the 3rd.
