Moonbase Alpha Updated to Fix Awesome Rover Bug

4

Moonbase Alpha has received a client update through Steam, with some bug fixes. Bugs and glitches often affect most games, but sometimes the glitch can add some more excitement to a game.

The changes are as follows:

  • FIXED - Astronauts can "attach" next to the rover or command center when high latency is present.
  • FIXED - Rover is sometimes invisible when remotely controlled when high latency is present.
  • FIXED - Erratic behavior of rover when attached to hose.
  • Multiple optimizations to program code for singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay.
  • Modified information in log reports.
Yes, NASA probably wants its moon mission simulator to be as accurate as possible, but I think the destruction of that awesome bug was a mistake. How many people would be more interested in the moon and moon-based content if they thought that's how things were up there? A lot, that's how many.

The patch should be automatically applied through Steam. Moonbase Alpha is a free NASA-sponsored educational "exploration game" developed by The Army Game Studio and Virtual Heroes.

I do like the wide shot of all the astronauts going about their business while the rover goes nuts in the background.

"Yeah, we'll just wait for that to calm down then we'll use it."
