Dead Rising 2 "Uses" Games For Windows Live (Update)
by Xav de Matos, Jul 13, 2010 3:15pm PDT[Update: 6:10pm] As suspected, Capcom has confirmed to Shacknews that Dead Rising 2 will include all Games for Windows Live features, including achievements and online matchmaking.
[Original Story] In response to a post on its official forum regarding a retailer listing for the upcoming zombie-killing sim, Capcom's Christian Svensson (aka "Sven" on the Capcom forums) confirmed the PC version of Dead Rising 2 will "use" Games for Windows Live.
"Yes," Svensson wrote, "[Dead Rising 2] uses Games for Windows Live." Svensson added he didn't "feel bad" confirming the news since the game's official box art features the Games for Windows Live branding.
The comment and use of "Games for Windows Live" rather than "Games for Windows" (which is a certification distinction) implies support for the service's Xbox Live-inspired features, including achievements and matchmaking. Capcom has previously utilized Game for Windows Live features in Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV and Dark Void.Shacknews has contacted Capcom to confirm all Games for Windows Live features are included with the PC version of Dead Rising 2 but has yet to hear back at the time of publishing.

GFWL is horrible, I used to think it was decent but now that I have seen the bad side of GFWL and I will never purchase any game that has this garbage installed!!
GFWL crap corrupted my user ID, so I lost all my achievements and worse all of my SAVE GAMES!! >( all that info tied to that account is lost and there is no other way to retrieve a corrupted ID, I tried every fix that has been recorded and nothing worked. The only solution was to start a new account, that is what GFWL brings, nothing but problems and I for one will not support it. If you dislike GFWL as a whole please just avoid any game that has GFWL enabled and let the developers know that you are not purchasing their game because GFWL is terrible.
Eidos learned their lesson and switched to Steamworks, how long will it take Capcom to do the same?
Games that use GFWL are guaranteed to have a dead online community within days and lose plenty of sales along the way.

I'm going to buy this on day one, just to show my support. Plus, I hear the first one was fucking awesome.
GFWL > Steamworks.

What self-respecting developer would do that to his own game and his customers?. The money from Microsoft must be really good.

Too bad. STEAMworks is definitely way better than GFWL.

I actually found out from too many re-installs... my bad on the excessive amount of re-installs... but still it's a ticking timebomb waiting to happen! And takes a month to sort out if you are bothered...

The only logical excuse is cross platform play and it isn't always used. Steamworks would take them a couple it days to implement, why use this crap NOBODY SANE likes.
Shit Capcom, get it together.
