Evening Reading

I'm working on my review of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and I was worried that there would be no one online to test out multiplayer. Then, I remembered the game is out in Japan and promptly got my face melted by ridiculousness. Those players are really good.

DeathSpank is out today on PSN (tomorrow on XBLA). Anyone snag it?

We're also running two giveaways right now (US Only). First, you can enter for a chance at one of three copies of ArmA 2: Combined Operations or take a chance at some Shacknews swag on Facebook.

The combat and the game in general feels a lot like Max Payne without bullet time, especially thanks to the focus on the same kind of photo-texturing Max used. The story is like some awful pastiche of a Michael Mann movie.

I also hear the PC version was less bugged than the console version.

It wasn't bad if you can play it co-op. The controls just felt a bit off.

It's not too bad if you play with a mouse and keyboard. I found the controls with a gamepad to be incredibly frustrating. The story and characters were interesting enough to make me want to finish the game and I'm glad I played it.

Jeff Gerstmann didn't care for it too much, I hear.

Decent. I just finished it up on PC a couple weeks ago. Go slow, make your shots count. I have played far worse.
