Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinori Ono has been quiet since the release of Super back in April, but that is about to change. Ono is set to appear at and announce his new title at a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 24.

The official description for the panel is limited to the Street Fighter franchise, but it is strongly rumored to be a new Darkstalkers game. Ono hinted this in an interview with Shacknews back during GDC in March, when responding to a question about what his dream project would be.

As far as a dream project is concerned, there is another fighting game series established shortly after I started at Capcom. A little something called Darkstalkers. If I was given the resources and permission to do so, I'd love to make a new Darkstalkers.

It is also possible that Ono could be referring to a PC version of Super Street Fighter IV. Now that an arcade release is being developed, a PC version would be easy to produce given that the arcade board is a glorified Windows XP computer. Recently, Ono has been on Twitter dropping hints left and right about his next project, which has been approved by Capcom.

Last night, before the Super Street Fighter IV finals at Evolution 2010, Tekken 6 executive producer Katsuhiro Harada attempted to goad Ono into revealing his new project. Ono, sadly, denied the crowd of thousands and asked them to wait until Comic-Con.

Damn --> New Darkstalkers would be sweet in the MvsC3 engine or the SF4 engine [DROOL]

I think almost any old fighter like, SF Alpha series, Marvel Super Heroes 2, VS series sequels, etc would make me happy.

Just re do any of them and you guys will have my money, its pretty easy sale.

Anyone think it will be SNK vs Capcom 3?

*SIGH* no CvS 3 damn it :(

I totally agree the style of Darkstalkers is perfect for MvsC 3 engine it almost looks semi Darkstalkers in character style.

I can't wait regardless what they announce.

What about a new PowerStone 3?

When he said Darkstalkers wouldn't work in the SFIV it sounded like it wouldn't work because of some of the crazy animation and deformation Darkstalker characters go through. So that almost makes me think that it's more of an issue with 3D than specifically the SFIV engine.

I'm a bit behind on this, but is the MvC3 engine totally new, or a revision of the SFIV engine?

Completely new and written from their kick ass "MT Framework" engine its multi platform supported basically it is developed on a pc then scales to the 360 and PS3 but once you one game you can release on all if they want.

Nice thing it supports mulit core cpus and sli gpus basically its pretty awesome, up till now only been used for third person type game MvsC 3 is the first fighter to use it (ver 2 of the engine) and I am sure not the last.

Here is a nice read on the engine ver 2 --> http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2009/06/14/mt_framework/

"Anyone think it will be SNK vs Capcom 3?"

Nope. Only reason being look at where they're announcing it. Should be something comic related :)
