Fan-Made King's Quest Sequel Launches
by Alice O'Connor, Jul 12, 2010 5:40am PDTThe first chapter in the fan-made episodic King's Quest sequel The Silver Lining was released over the weekend, as promised, and can be downloaded now for free.
Alas, we can't mirror the game on FileShack for you as the agreement that saw publisher and property owner Activision reverse its plans to bury the project requires that the adventure game only be available from its official site.
"Without the bravery and persistence of these volunteers, it is almost certain that King's Quest would have been relegated to a forgotten obscurity--its story left untold," said series creator Roberta Williams in the launch announcement. "Now there is a chance to truly find out what happens to the royal family of the Kingdom of Daventry. I, like many other fans, would like to see how this story unfolds!"
'Episode One: What is Decreed Must Be' sees King Graham off to save his children from a villain's curse. "Several more instalments" will be released "throughout 2010."
Developer Phoenix Online Studios' next project is "a new episodic adventure game" titled Corridor 9, which is said to be "in the early stages of development."
