FIFA Soccer 11 Using 'Next Gen' Engine on PC

7
The FIFA Soccer series has finally switched to using the same "next gen" engine on PC as in console editions, unlike the tarted-up PS2 engine port seen in recent PC versions.

After "two years in development," says EA, FIFA Soccer 11's next-gen engine "has been optimised for PC." Executive producer Kaz Makita declared that the FIFA franchise "is committed to investing and innovating for PC and this is a watershed moment."

The reason that FIFA Soccer 10 was still lumbered with the stodgy old engine was, according to EA in 2009, "down to the fact that not everyone has a high-end PC, but in time it will get closer." The company claimed then that "Currently only 10% of consumers have machines capable of running the next-gen engine."

EA Canada's FIFA Soccer 11 is due out for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2, Wii, PSP and DS on September 28 in North America, hitting Europe and Asia on October 1.

Well, it's about time they got the PC version to match the console ones.

If PES 2011 doesn't deliver this year I might just switch to FIFA 2011.

I've been playing PES 2010 on PC and I can see what you are saying, but the last PES/Winning Eleven I played was 2-3 years ago, and in some cases there has been quite a lot of improvement (especially in the Master League), wont you agree?

I just still see the same old buggy gameplay and old-tired animation from time to time...Wish they would improve that in PES 2011.

I'm more of a Winning Eleven guy instead of FIFA, but this is good news since competition is always good for customers :)
