Online soldiers have a few more reasons to squad up in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 today, as a somewhat new map pack has arrived on consoles and PC.

VIP Map Pack 4 adds new modes to current Bad Company 2 maps Atacama Desert and Port Valdez. In Atacama Desert players can now partake in "Rush Mode," jockeying for position on the sandy wasteland. Conquest fans will now be able to fight alongside allies on Port Valdez, where U.S. command must defend the harbor from a Russion onslaught.

PC players will have the content freely patched into their current game, while console players with new copies of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 who have already registered their included VIP code will be able to download the new variations. For console soldiers who have yet to register their VIP code, we ask, "What are you waiting for?"

The release date for that is December iirc. Too few maps to keep me playing this game until December.

I really like the game. I just feel EA/DICE have really dropped the ball on delivering NEW content to a game that appears to have sold well. If you're going to design a system that cock blocks the modding community, then the developer should support the product with new content. It's been 18 weeks since this game was released and probably more since the artists and map makers worked on it significantly. The only new map content is scheduled for December iirc. YMMV, but the support and patch system for this game have given me pause when buying any further games developed by DICE. This is the first BF game I've ever bought as I hate conquest, but really dig the RUSH mode.

Above is why the patches are so messed up.

Were most of the artists and mappers put on the MoH project after they were done with BC2?

I'd settle for no new maps, just make the devkit available. When I think about all the awesome community developed stuff for the "real" Battlefield games (1942 > 2142) it's heartbreaking to think we won't get it for BC2. My gut feeling is we won't ever get a devkit and new maps will only be available for purchase.

Yep, EA has their hand on Dice's throat, so I can't really see me continuing on this path.
