Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Gets Release Date, New Screenshots

5
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair will be released on August 4 via Xbox Live Arcade for 1200 Microsoft Points, publisher Konami has revealed today. New screenshots have also been released for your consumption.

The title supports up to six players online in "massive levels inspired by the worlds of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia," as players rush forward to collect items and defeat bosses. After launch, Konami plans to add "downloadable content featuring new characters along with new levels."

The aforementioned co-op play will be paired with a competitive "Survival Mode", which will "determine the best slayer of evil," though exact gameplay specifics are not known.

Though currently only planned for the Xbox 360, a PlayStation 3 version is possible if the XBLA release sells well enough.

While this is cool and all.... just make a true sequel to SoTN or at least an HD remix of it already!!

That captured awesome in a bottle with that title, and I've been waiting for them to do it again ever since. The mroe recent DS titles have been good, but they just haven't had that special something that SoTN had.

Indeed. SoTN on XBLA has been keeping me satiated. But an HD widescreen makeover? That would be pure awesome-sauce!

Yeah I thought this was a "proper" Castlevania not a half-arsed medley of old levels to race through. The zooming looks cool at least, and I guess it's an interesting first stab at co-op.

Couldn't agree more. SOTN is my favorite console game of all time, there hasn't been a Castlevania title even close to it. Would love a direct sequel.
