The Eye of Judgment Online Servers Being Shut Down September 30

10
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced online support for The Eye of Judgment, its PlayStation Eye-enabled, augmented reality card game, will cease on September 30, 2010.

The move comes as no surprise, considering the abysmal support the game has received since its launch in 2007 and cancelation of a three-set retail release in 2008 [Translation].

The announcement, which was made on the SCEE forums (via Eurogamer), read:
We at SCEE sincerely thank you for your continued support of The Eye of Judgment. The online battle service for this product will terminate on 30 September 2010. Offline play will remain available even after the conclusion of online service.

We hope you will continue to enjoy both The Eye of Judgment, and the latest addition to the series, The Eye of Judgment: Legends, available exclusively for the PSP.

Server closures are not uncommon for online titles; however, with The Eye of Judgment being less than three years old, players who have spent money on new card sets have now had their entertainment value drastically reduced.

I wonder how much it costs to keep it up. You'd think they'd keep it up just to save face.
