If I remember correctly, as soon as Unreal came out Ion Storm took a second off from hyping John Romero's latest bowel movement and shot their mouths off and about Daikatana 2 being done using the Unreal engine.

This is unlikely for two reasons, though. First, the Unreal engine would be close to 6 years old when Romero finally got done jerking himself off in the press and running through a few more development teams. Secondly, and this makes the first point moot, as sonn as Eidos realizes that no one will even bother stealing Daikatana, Romero will lose his job.
