Evening Reading

By Brian Leahy, Jun 30, 2010 5:00pm PDT Hey, Blizzard. Long weekend coming up. It'd probably be a great time to kick off phase 2 of the StarCraft II beta, right? I miss it. You launched the wrong beta today!

In other gaming news, I've come into possession of ArmA 2 and ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead. I am quite daunted by it, but will be giving it a shot. If anyone else owns the games, look for my posts in ER tonight or tomorrow begging for some co-op.

  • I know this sheet seems attention seeking and self-centered but what the hell.

I've been lightly contemplating starting a blog of some kind (that no one will probably read). The title would probably be something along the lines of 'Amateur Classical Lover'.

Basically I love classical music, and it has steadily grown on me for the last 3 years. I gradually find new pieces I love and I thought about writing about it from an amateurs perspective for other people that a fond of it but may not necessarily know many good pieces and also want to avoid the snobbery of it.

I would give my impressions of new great pieces I discover or commonly listen to (not necessarily hidden relics but sometimes common ones that people may have heard but don't necessarily know).

I think a few years ago I would have liked to have stumbled upon someone giving me directions to some great pieces of music and once a week listening to another great piece, because there is so much out there, and sometimes I hear one or two and it annoys me that I haven't heard it before.

Haven't really thought about this much, but is anyone out there a little into classical music and would find this kinda thing useful?
