Shack PSA: Steam Discounts Mass Effect 2, Red Faction Guerrilla and more

Torchlight is a great Hack & Slay game with a very active mod-community. It's easily worth the asking price.

However, the real killer is The Void. It's a hauntingly beautiful and disturbing game, albeit hard. There's a difficulty patch available here so at least that is not an excuse any more. http://forum.ice-pick.com/viewtopic.php?p=101816#p101816

I've seen Mass Effect 2 for less, but some people might like it on Steam. L4D is practically left for dead haha and might not be worth it if you've got no personal group of four.

I'd strongly caution everyone to think about getting RF:G. It's a horrible port by Volition and THQ (just like Sain'ts Row 2 before) and even though it's been patched might not run properly on / play nice with: Windows 7; Quad-cores; Dual-Cores; Onboard-Sound; X-Fi cards; Surround Sound Systems; nVidia Cards; ATi Cards; Keyboards; 64-bit machines with 2+GB RAM and certain multi-monitor configs. On top of that, it's possible the included and faulty(?) GfWL won't let you "download" your profile or save correctly. And you might not be able to permanently change your resolution. So Caveat Emptor.

Does Valve pay you guys to post these stories on sales?

Damn it, Steam! At this rate, I'm going to have months worth of gaming all at the same time. I bought the first Half-Life, The Witcher, and the Civ IV pack. I already had two of the Civ IV parts, but at the price steam had it, it was much cheaper to just buy the pack.

I heard "FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage" is nothing more than a expanded version of "FlatOut2". Is the game different enough to warrant the purchase? Or should I invest the money in (supposedly) better things, like "The Void"?

Still waiting for Just Cause 2 to go on sale by itself.

Torchlight is a must have. RF: Guerrilla is tons of fun as well.

FYI, you can get the Guild II and the Pirates Expansion separately for 3.75, saving 6 dollars over the whole pack. I don't know why, but that's how it is.

Can anybody tell us if The Void is worth a buy?

I'm not a big Myst-type game person and that seems like the direction it's leaning. How is it? Worth experiencing?

Is that flatout any good? I remember enjoying the first one.

Cool, maybe more people will be playing Left 4 Dead now. I still haven't beat all campaigns because I can never find people to play with.

Pretty good selection of titles on sale today, Torchlight being the highlight i'd say. Flatout games are pretty fun too.
