Rumour: Hulu Plus on PS3 Requires PlayStation Plus

18
Streaming video service Hulu's new console-supporting 'Hulu Plus' subscription service will require PlayStation 3 owners to also subscribe to Sony's own PlayStation Plus scheme, according to a technologizer report spotted by Kotaku.

"Note: you must be a subscriber of the Playstation Plus Network," reads a message on the Hulu Plus 'Devices' page, first spotted by Technologizer and confirmed by a Kotaku reader in the current Hulu Plus invite-only preview.

The $9.99 monthly Hulu Plus subscription brings support for streaming the service's library of television shows to devices including the iPhone, iPad and certain Internet-enabled television sets and Blu-Ray players, plus even more shows.

PlayStation Plus subscriptions run $17.99 for three months or $49.99 for a year, packing early access to select demos and betas, discounts, rotating free content and more.

Hulu Plus support comes to the PS3 in July, but isn't due on Xbox 360 until "early 2011."
