Red Faction Downloadable Game to Release Before Armageddon; Ties in with Syfy Show

Red Faction: Armageddon may not be released until March 2011, but fans will be getting a PSN and XBLA Red Faction title "three or four months before Armageddon," said THQ VP Danny Bilson to CVG at E3.

Syfy is producing a 2-hour TV movie based upon the franchise, which will also serve as a pilot for a potential series. "We will sell it to the fans, it will have content you can download that is TV show-related," explains Bilson. "It will build up to the new game and also we can use it to drive pre-orders, too."

Expect more downloadable titles prior to the release of a major THQ title. "You'll see it on Red Faction, you'll see it on Saint's Row and a couple of others," Bilson said. The strategy worked well for Electronic Arts with the release of Battlefield 1943 prior to the release of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

I'd rather have the game return to its Ultor roots. Fuck this monster shit.

Guerilla was pretty good. Story-wise, evil corporation/military keeping those poor miners down...

Besides, I thought it was fun to blow up buildings, crash my truck through a wall to rescue hostages, then run away laughing like a little girl before the gunships showed up. Hopefully this one will have some of that.
