Filled with cats, robots, yeti and zombies, RISK: Factions may not sound like the classic board game we all know and love--fortunately, it includes a classic mode as well.

The downloadable title, exclusive to the Xbox 360 and developed by Stainless Games (Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers), hit today--hence the launch trailer below--with a free demo and an asking price of 800 Microsoft Points / $10.

Why aren't all XBLA games available on GFWL?

for the exact same reason that all xbox 360 games aren't released on pc--the challenge and cost of developing and optimizing a game for multiple hardware configurations instead of just one, making sure that the technology plays nice on both platforms, etc.

I thought the XBLA stuff was kinda "sandboxed" from the programming standpoint.

nah. there's a standard engine for pc and xbox 360 if you want to use it--the xna framework--but the engines and technologies used by xbox live arcade games are just about as diverse as retail.
