Nintendo 3DS Launching in 'Major Markets' by April

Upon announcing the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo vowed that the hardware would launch no later than March 31, 2011, but did not specify where.

Fortunately, in speaking with IndustryGamers, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime offered some clarification, explaining:

"The one thing, for sure, is that we will launch in all of our major markets by March 31, 2011," he said. "We'll be making individual market decisions in terms of what's happening in Japan, what's happening in the Americas, what's happening in Europe."

Fils-Aime also noted that part of "the reason we haven't announced a launch date or pricing is that... we wanted to get reaction here [at E3 2010]," revealing that the company was "looking for feedback" on the new portable before finalizing its design.
