Zelda: Ocarina of Time Coming to 3DS

Prior to a roundtable discussion with Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma, Nintendo showed a teaser of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time running on its upcoming 3DS handheld gaming system. There wasn't much to this brief clip, but it was certainly enough to whet the appetites of millions of longtime Zelda fans. Bringing back one of the most beloved games in the Zelda series also ensures that the Nintendo faithful will be along for Nintendo's foray into 3D gaming.

In the non-playable teaser, Link is shown riding on his trusty steed Epona. The camera angle changes several times to show the effectiveness of the 3DS'...uh...3D. While the clip wasn't interactive, it did a good job of showing how exploration can be potentially fun and different in a 3D version of The Ocarina of Time.

On a related note, Aonuma apologized for the Water Temple section in Ocarina of Time and promised that things will be much different in the 3DS version. A lot of gamers loathed that section because of its difficulty, while others thought it was just cruel and poor game design. Aonuma said that taking the iron boots on and off -- one of the reasons this section was so annoying -- will be easy and natural thanks to the 3DS' touchscreen.

A new version of a great game that uses cool, new technology and ditches one of its biggest flaws?!? I'm sure loads of you are down with that, right?

I liked it, too. I guess we're just weird.
