inFamous 2 Revealed in E3 Trailer
by Alice O'Connor, Jun 15, 2010 7:11pm PDTSucker Punch has unveiled the sequel to its electrifying free-roaming action game inFamous during E3, as had been expected, with an explosive trailer.
Not only has protagonist Cole MacGrath changed his iconic look for inFamous 2, he's also left Empire City and moved down South to the open-world city of New Marais.
Cole will be armed with "enhanced electrical attacks, an improved melee fighting system and a host of new superpowers" as he probes "his full super-powered potential." Considering that "destructible buildings and collapsible environments" are promised, we suspect he'll explore his darker side a little just to see how pretty it looks.
inFamous 2 is scheduled for release exclusively on PlayStation 3 in 2011.

This cat looks like he spends hours in front of the mirror each day before he goes out to battle the forces of evil and quips like a broody emo with a chip on his shoulder. Not digging it.
Also, did anyone get a "Dark Knight" vibe? Almost identical orchestral music, seedy city underbelly, protagonist perching on rooftops before the moon and forcing an unnecessarily low voice? And no daytime footage, anyone notice that? I hope the whole game isn't set at night; I enjoyed romping about Empire City in the daytime sometimes.
Regardless, as long as it brings the same acrobatic open-world shenanigans as the first then I'm down. It was mostly the impeccable gameplay that made inFamous such an awesome experience.

But if they're actually trying to follow the original plot, then this game will fail story wise. I didn't get any sense of the original Cole in this trailer preview, and I really had an attachment to him in the first game.
