Rez Producer Mizuguchi's 'Multi-Sensory Shooter' Child of Eden Unveiled

By Alice O'Connor, Jun 15, 2010 6:35am PDT Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the designer behind titles including Rez, Space Channel 5 and Lumines, is producing a "multi-sensory shooter" with support for Microsoft's motion-sensing Xbox 360 controller Kinect, publisher Ubisoft announced.

Developed by Q Entertainment for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Child of Eden is promised to "send players diving into a kaleidoscopic matrix of synchronized music and mind-blowing visuals that will usher forth yet another landmark game experience from the mind of renowned game designer Tetsuya Mizuguchi."

Ubisoft explains that with Kinect "the player will use his body to move the camera, and both hands to lock-on and shoot for a completely new multi-sensory shooting game experience," though regular controls are also supported. There was no mention of support for Sony's competing PlayStation Move controller.

Child of Eden is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 and PS3 in the first quarter of 2011.
