A spiritual sequel to Konami's 1994 run-and-gun shooter Contra: Hard Corps is being developed by Guilty Gear and BlazBlue maker Arc System Works, IGN has revealed.

Coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in downloadable form, the action game--dubbed Hard Corps, Uprising-- is described by Konami as an "homage to legacy Konami run-and-gun platformers."

"Gameplay is straight up what you would expect from Contra," adds IGN, which notes that the winer-due download will include both online and offline cooperative play.

I agree, if they did the same with Castlevania it would be another instant purchase for me..

Hehe the screenshots do hold some promise. I wonder if it will have the same branching level design and multiple endings that Contra Hard Corps had.
