Quake3 117 FPS Boost DLLs
by Steve Gibson, May 07, 2000 1:35pm PDTProbably the best performance boost you can get for Quake3 is compiling the QVM code into DLL files. This works great but causes some 'issues' when you try to play on servers with custom mods. Jack compiled these up and you can Grab them here. You should get around a 10-15% framerate boost on Win98 and Win2K machines. Do NOT use these DLLs unless you are a fairly advanced user who is comfortable moving files around. Thanks to Jack Mathews as always for hax0ring these. Extract the DLLS into your Quake3\baseq3\ directory.

HOLY SHIT.
I got 108.1 fps in Demo001.
P3-600@10x7x32, FSAA enabled, picmip 0, r_lodbias 0, r_shadows 2, dynamic lights, etc, etc, etc.
I don't think this Elsa card is a 'bum' card, so to speak. Quite impressive.
It's too bad that UT still handles like shit on my system though :(

I just finished watching that '3D wassup' *.mpg at Http://www.lickmysweaty.com
Yeah, it was kinda funny, but I do believe that the 'wassup' commercial has now officially been done to death.
If there's anyone else out there that had plans of remaking that comercial or is currently in the midst of creating their own.... don't.
Thanks!

I see no conflict there and certainly no reason for a lawsuit. Sounds like bullstein to me...

FOV 90
Sensitivity 25 (I usually have it at 30, but I'm trying to lower it slowly to try to improve my aim)
8x6x32 on a PI-400 & TNT2Ultra.
68fps/66fps on the time demos.

I play with headphones
FOV makes a big difference, in my opinion. It seems intuitive to me... I mean, with an increased fov you can see more.

I just pulled it out of my box about ten minutes ago. I saw the Elsa board on sale at Fry's and it's only a $30 difference.
Fuck, why not?

When I play at the defaults it's so weird and confusing to me it screws me up. Bad. Heh.
It's probably because my first experience w/ q3test was on a k6-2 333 and a voodoo banshee. Heh. I've always been used to a baked-ass deathmatch experience. I actually played at 320x240 for a while. (now I play at 640x480, with default texture detail, everything else is turned way the hell down or off)
ahem.
I would think that the people at id would care much more about things like game balance and overall gameplay experience than what level people are setting r_picmip to.
Then again, I could be wrong.
