Mad Catz Purchases Gaming Headset Company TRITTON
by Brian Leahy, Jun 01, 2010 1:00pm PDTMad Catz has purchased 100% of TRITTON Technologies, which manufactures "gaming audio headsets, high-performance multimedia consumer electronics and computer peripherals."
"The gaming headset category is one of the fastest growing within the gaming sector, and the acquisition of TRITTON significantly enhances Mad Catz' opportunities in this very attractive market segment," said Darren Richardson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz.
TRITTON founder and CEO Christopher Von Huben, along with "a limited number of other key TRITTON employees", will become employees of Mad Catz.
Mad Catz grabbed the company for $1 million in cash and up to a maximum of an additional $9 million based on TRITTON's performance over the next five years. TRITTON generated $8 million in revenue in 2009, according to the press release.
