More Harry Potter Movie Games Announced

11
Having already revealed plans to release a new Harry Potter video game this year, publisher Electronic Arts today announced two video games based upon Warner Bros' upcoming book-inspired two-part feature film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The first video game, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, will be released this fall alongside the first feature film on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and "mobile devices." The second will hit the same platforms, presumably alongside the second feature film due in mid-2011.

Harry Potter gaming veterans EA Bright Light is handling development of both titles, with the studio said to be using "a new game engine built specifically to leverage the technology of HD consoles ensures high definition graphics and intense combat gameplay that will immerse players in the action like never before."

Am I the only one who wished J.K. Rawling never wrote those books and just stayed put eating out of a back alley garbage can.

Not the garbage can part, but I could live without it.

Why do you wish that? Is this universe somehow affecting your life negatively?

I'd answer your question, but the second part makes absolutely no sense, unless of course there are multiple universes.

...So millions of children stayed uninterested in reading, billion dollar immensely popular movies are never made, and a fandom that rivals Star Wars is never created.

You may not be the only one, but I'm glad theres only a few of you.

On the bright side, we'd never have to hear anyone going on and on about what house they got sorted into.

Seriously... What do you have against the HP universe? That it gives kids and parents some excellent escapist reading heavy with classic literary themes and an allegory for the early 20th century's fight against fascism?

I'd agree the games are ... well typical tie in games and not great. Big deal though, don't buy them.

I don't care much for Harry Potter myself, but the books have had a positive influence on a lot of people.

A lot of kids who were uninterested in reading were made interested in reading because of Harry Potter, so I can't really complain. There's worse shit the world's kids could be reading. Like Twilight.

I don't like them either, but that's a terrible reason for depriving other people of enjoyment.
