        I think the big difference is that it seems fairly common to pay for an iPhone in the US whereas almost everyone I know that has an iPhone over here got it free or close to free with their contract. From my point of view the difference is £80 for a 3GS or £425 for the cheapest iPad and that's a huge step up considering it really is just a big iPhone.
        
        Maybe I should be comparing it to laptop prices but then I start looking at getting a laptop for a couple of hundred more and then I could get rid of my PC and desk and the space it takes up...
