Modern Warfare 2 'Resurgence' DLC Trailer

As the second batch of downloadable content for Modern Warfare 2 is due to hit Xbox 360 this Thursday, June 3, maker Infinity Ward and Microsoft have released a trailer examining the five multiplayer maps that comprise the "Resurgence Pack" add-on.

Of those five maps, three--Carnival, Fuel and Trailer Park--are all new, while the remaining two--Vacant and Strike--are returning from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Priced at 1200 Microsoft Points / $15--a price that Infinity Ward owner Activision says "has still provided a fantastic value to gamers"--the "Resurgence Pack" is due on PC and PlayStation 3 at a later unspecified date. For reference, the game's first downloadable add-on hit Xbox 360 on March 30 then followed in PC and PlayStation 3 form on May 4.

Unfortunately, despite how many people here will say this is a terrible deal and is only to cash in on MW2's popularity, this will still probably be the second best, (if not the best) selling DLC ever. Activision has exposed the public for their stupidity, and they're cashing in with millions of DLC sales.

Makes me wonder if normal people are now the minority, and stupid people are now the majority.

These maps look pretty cool. I would even pay for them, but I would not get ripped off paying $5 for EACH, with two freebies off of an old game. Whats funny is the same price you would pay for 6 maps, with four freebies from an old game, you could get that old game with those four freebies, guns, singleplayer campaign, etc. Just a ridiculous, out of control price.

The main reason that things are like this is because most people dont care. They look at call of duty and say "hey, that was a great game. look heres another one lets buy that too." They dont care about the developer or anything like that because to them its just another game. unfortunately the vast majority of players are on consoles, which of course have no servers. activision just wants money from these people. they just dont care about the dedicated fans like us when theres money to be had. its really kind of sad.

I would buy this mappack IF, and only IF, they would get off their asses and integrated the Stimulus DLC into the goddamn normal rotation (on the PC side) already. It has been sitting in it's own dedicated rotation list with forced random gamemodes for way way too long. I purchased the Stimulus DLC and I didn't have that that much of an issue with the price (although all things considered I would've called 10$ the fair price for it), but I am not going to buy the 2nd DLC pack unless they add the 1st one to the normal rotation and commit to doing the same thing with the Resurgence DLC in a quick fashion.

It's amazing that Robert Bowling can still get on camera and act like his company is interested in what gamers want. Forget all the DLC content and all the BS talk about them, let Robert Bowling get on camera and address how bad their plan to use the VAC anti cheat system went after touting it to better the gaming experience. Let Robert Bowling address why steam support refers customers to Activision and Infinity Ward on that issue and then those same people just get refered back to Steam with no answer. Even though PC gamers and the modding community made Call of Duty a cult favorite, we all know know that this is all about keeping the games life short and making money off it consistantly until the next game comes out. Hence is why they keep bringing old maps back so MW1 players are more likely to switch over and play the newer game if it has familiar maps they like. This is also why they refuse to address the cheating in the game because of the new game Black OPS is due to be out soon. If it has dedicated server support all the people who hated MW2 will by it for that reason. But in reality it was the PC community that really made this game come to life, and killing that by making this series a console style game will eventually spell its doom.

See, companies used to have to compete against their users to produce content because of mod tools. If a company wanted to release extra content in the past, they had to do such a good job that it was better than the free content its users produced. So, companies are removing mod tools in order to give themselves a monopoly on content.

$15 for 3 maps, and two from the last one just isn't worth it. Morons will buy it though, and MW3 will be $20.

They are testing you to see how expensive they can make it before their sales suffer. It's called 'seeing what the market will bear' - once the sales numbers fall, they back off the price by $5 and you think you're getting a deal.

It actually is coming out Thursday, June 3rd, not Wednesday, June 2nd like the post has it, unless there is new information I am not aware of. Either way $15 is a bit much to ask. Strike was one of my favorite maps from COD4, and Carnival looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure it's enough to get me to pull the trigger on it. If I really wanted to play Strike and Vacant I could just pop COD4 disk into my Xbox360.
