Gearbox Files 'Z-Day' Trademark

Borderlands and Aliens: Colonial Marines developer Gearbox Software recently filed for a trademark on the phrase "Z-Day," Siliconera noticed early this morning.

The filing covers "computer game software for personal computers and home video game consoles" as well as "motion picture films about action and adventure."

Going by its official website, Gearbox currently has three unannounced projects in development alongside Aliens: Colonial Marines. However, there's no guarantee that "Z-Day" is among those projects--last year, the company filed for several War Hero trademarks, including World War II Hero, but explained that such a project was "something down the road" and had yet to be discussed with any "potential partners."

We've reached out to Gearbox for additional details, and will update accordingly.

I'd just like to point out that there's already a game in development named "Z Day" http://www.zdaygame.com/index.php

They announced it quite a while ago (back in 2009). It's a zombie apocalypse survival MMOFPS.

I imagine that Gearbox is creating a family friendly Wii title where players must recaputer escape animals from the Zoo. They call it Z-day, only to have the name leaked and everyone assume its about Zombies.
