Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers Coming to PC via Steam
by Brian Leahy, May 24, 2010 7:00pm PDTWizards of the Coast is gearing up to release (via Kotaku) Stainless Games' Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers for the PC via Valve's Steam digital distribution platform. The game, currently available for the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Arcade, includes pre-set decks of cards for the popular collectible card game.
The game will sell for $9.99 and include the first expansion pack. It will become available for pre-loading on June 1, but no release date has been given at this time. This should be a nice alternative to Wizards' microtransaction-based Magic: The Gathering Online, which allows players to purchase digital cards and build an online collection.
The PC version will utilize Steamworks for achievements, leaderboards, and, according to Kotaku, multiplayer matchmaking, which would bring online play to the series for the first time. A PlayStation 3 version is planned for release this year.

It's easy to learn and tons of fun to play, plus the unique way you build your deck means that you can play with anybody, not just other Magic players. Plus there's no bullshit card collecting money sinkhole to deal with unless you want to introduce even more variety than the base game gives you (25 sets of action cards, of which you pick any 10 you want to play with).

I love M:TG and Dominion is really an awesome game.
Although it is not as complex as Magic (not as many different cards and rules), it's similar fun, ESPECIALLY because you can get your non-nerd friends to play it with you as it's easily learned!
Definitely recommended. I already bought all the expansions cause it's so much fun!
