Tower Defense 'Revenge of the Titans' Demo Lands
by Alice O'Connor, May 24, 2010 7:50am PDTIndie developer Puppy Games has released a demo for its tip-top tower defense game Revenge of the Titans, available in Windows and Mac flavours over on FileShack.
Spotted by top chaps Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Revenge of the Titans is a lovely blend of tower defense and strategy, with resources to gather, a big, juicy tech tree and droid armies. The action is a little more involved than the average TD, requiring players to manually collect harvested resources and reload turrets while watching the battlefield for dropped power-ups and cracks in their defense.
Revenge of the Titans can be pre-ordered for download direct from Puppy Games with a 50% discount, costing an elite--and very reasonable--$13.37.

There's also a pretty complex (for first look) research tree similar to what they do in RTS/RPG games where you can advance certain technologies if you got the cash and upgrade your weapons. It seemed pretty deep and I think it will probably add replayability where you could try taking a game and your tech skills in different direction next time you play, assuming you don't max everything out by the time you're done with the game.
This game won't beat Defense Grid but I think if they polish it up more, add more detail to aliens to make them stand out, and bring my view closer to battle field so everything doesn't look so small it will have potential. And get rid of blocky graphics and text.
I'll give it another shot later today now that I'm more familiar with it and know what I'm doing.

Love the graphics, the sounds... everything! I just wish there was an overworld or a tech tree so you could keep track of things. Now it feels like you'll lose everything if you quit :\
