by Alice O'Connor, May 21, 2010 5:40am PDTTo soften the blow of news that Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 has been delayed, Sega has released the first gameplay trailer for its retro side-on platformer and revealed that the mysterious fourth release platform it's been teasing is the iPhone.
Co-developed by Sonic Team and Sonic Rush developer Dimps, Sonic 4 returns to the series' roots with an episodic '2.5D' platforming romp that features no irksome playable cats, dogs, rabbits, frogs, hogs, pangolin, newts, hawks, dolphins, badgers or snakes.
Originally due this summer, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 will now be released for download "in the latter half of 2010," hitting Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and iPhone.
