Much like Blizzard and World of Warcraft, Sony Online Entertainment has added a trio of colorful (and premium-priced) in-game mounts to EverQuest II's online marketplace--a move, believe it or not, the company says was driven by "player demand."

The three "Prowler" mounts come in three different colored variates: Ethereal (purple), Ulteran (blue), and Sinister (green), though are much the same, otherwise. Purchasing one of these creatures from the Station Marketplace will set you back 2500SC ($25).

As for stats, Sony Online had this to say about the ride-able beasties:

Each mount comes in your choice of one of the following versions: Fierce and Arcane. The Fierce version increases Slashing, Aggression, Ranged, Piercing and Crushing of caster by 5, while the Arcane version increases Focus, Ordination, Disruption, Subjugation and Ministration of caster by 5. Both versions of the mount have a 65% run speed.

"a move, believe it or not, the company says was driven by "player demand."

I guess 10 out of 12 total players would constitute demand...serious, does anyone play it?

Yeah, actually, it's doing very well. It's not WoW numbers, but it has steady population.

No the only MMO anyone plays is WoW wfalcon.

I never said the 500lb gorilla was the only game in town, but I can't see them doing that well in the race for 2nd - there's Warhammer Online, LOTR Online, Eve, City of Heroes, (and a lot more that I'm sure I'm omitting) that's got to impact their player base.

          You certainly implied it.

Yes, many people play it (including myself). It's fun.

It's a much better game than WoW, I think. I certainly enjoy it more. Too bad none of my friends agree.

Could you explain what makes it a much better game?

I'm curious because I feel the same way about WAR...except that since WAR has such a small player base, a lot of its appeal is lost. Also, I'm curious because I played a trial version years ago and it just kinda seemed like a slower, uglier WoW.

Demanded by players...Translation: Our employees were told to spam us so we have "proof" of player demand for mounts.

I have been playing since launch and I have yet to find a deeper, more enjoyable MMO.

The game is actually very deep... that condescending eye cast upon WoW players? There's a grain of truth in there. It's not EVE learning curve, no, but it's a firm relative of the original.

The panthers are an attempt at copying WoW. They were gay in WoW, they are gay in EQ2.
