Evening Reading

Why are you even reading this? Shouldn't you be playing Red Dead Redemption?

As for me, it's pre-E3 week as Garnett and myself attend fancy, secret events to get a sneak-peek at some of the games you'll be seeing at E3 2010. Don't worry, we can't talk about any of it just yet.

Has anyone noticed how good the sound is in this game? I love just standing there in a new environment and listening to all the sounds that happen around you. From the wind to the yip's of coyotes, you can even tell what direction they are in. Thunder and rain was great too.

There have been several instances of sounds that actually made me turn my head because they sounded so close and real. Wolves chasing behind is particularly frightening.

PC Gamers tears taste like joy. Just fucking buy a console - it's barely the cost of a video card. Games come out for both, honest!

      • reply
        May 18, 2010 7:10 PM

The cost of a video card is like 100 bux.

          May 18, 2010 7:12 PM

If you're a dumb faggot who buys shit computer parts with food stamps, sure it's 100bux, if you want something nice you start at around 200$ US and work up.

            May 18, 2010 7:17 PM

200 US? More like 100 AUS, are you gay in the highschool sense of the word? A 4850 is all that's necessary to play Crysis on maxed out settings (minus the AA) at 1680x1050. And every multiplatform game runs gorgeously on an 8800 already. Upgradin' is fun but who gives a gay in the end.

I run it at 1280x800 on my 4890 in max detail (no AA, no AF) and it runs like butter - but 4850 at 1680x1050? lol

Well lol all you like, but I dunno why, the only thing I have to turn off is AA to get a playable framerate. Very happy with the performance of that game on this card.

wait do you guys think like if the floor on the framerate isn't 60 the game runs like shit?

I see no value in a 25 to 30fps game which will hit 15 in a fight, that's not PC gaming.

Well first of all I never hit 15 in Crysis, not configged the way I have it. Second of all, it must be really hard to be a console gamer if you can't stand 30 fps and low resolutions.

I find Crysis unplayable on a 4890 with no AA, no AF at 1920x1200 maxed, I think 1680x1050 might be fairly good, maybe I'm wrong about the 1280x800 thing on the 4890. As for a 4850, I still say you need a decent video card - my primary point is really that your average PC gamer spends half the price of a console every 6 to 12 months just to keep his or her PC in line.

I own and love my PC but people QQing over RDR need to stop whining and just buy a console, are they gamers or are they gamers?

If the steam hardware surveys and nvidia's falling consumer range revenues are any indication you are not an average PC gamer. People are sticking with their old systems, and rightfully so. I might not be able to run Crysis at 60 fps, but I sure as shit can run every other game at 60 fps, with AA and all that other stuff. I don't need a new card. It's pretty boring that performance and high framerates are the only thing that interest you in PC gaming.

So yeah what I don't understand is how anything less than 60 fps on PC bothers you, but a 360 which runs most of its games not at high def but at standard definition and at 30 fps, is just fine? Bizarre.

I don't play high twitch games on a console plus I've got a plasma with phosphor, it's probably smoothing things out a bit too.
You're sad about RDR aren't you man?
