Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Delayed

By Chris Faylor, May 18, 2010 12:20pm PDT Initially slated to arrive sometime before Christmas 2010, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been delayed into 2011, maker Ubisoft revealed today.

"Due to a very competitive environment, we decided to move the game out of the Christmas quarter, and into the March quarter," CEO Yves Guillemot explained today during a conference call with investors, as reported by Joystiq. "It will also provide additional time to our development teams to realize their vision."

Presumably, that "March quarter" is the one that spans January 1 to March 31, 2011 and represents the final quarter of Ubisoft's current fiscal year--as assumption backed up by community developer Kimi Matsuzaki's mention of an "early 2011" release.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is in the works for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP--the company previously suggested that Future Soldier PC may arrive later than the others--with a multiplayer beta set to hit Xbox 360 over the summer.
