While Star Wars: The Old Republic is roughly a year away, developer BioWare and publisher Electronic Arts have issued some new information and media that, depending on your take, either make the wait easier or harder.

Alongside the some new screenshots and a trailer starring lead writer Daniel Erickson, the companies offered up some details on the PC MMO's "Advanced Classes."

"As your character becomes more seasoned through adventure, you will be given the opportunity to undertake one of two Advanced Classes," they explain, a choice that will make the skills and abilities of the other Advanced Class unavailable to that character:

The main goal of the Advanced Class System is to allow you to customize your characters according to your play style. For example, some Sith Warrior players will want to charge into the fight and take the full heat of the enemies’ aggression. Others will want to execute their maneuvers more strategically, focused on channeling all their rage to destroy their enemies as quickly as possible. The Advanced Class System gives you these kinds of choices and more.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently slated to launch in spring 2011, with publisher Electronic Arts not expecting the game to hit until sometime after April 1, 2011.

As much as I love that CG trailer, I really want to see some more gameplay movies. The one bit on the Sith ship was cool, but need more.
