As previously reported, the Star Trek Online demo has been released offering unlimited playtime for a limited amount of content with Cryptic's MMORPG set in the Star Trek universe.

Star Trek Online

You can play through the entire Star Trek Online Tutorial, as well as the Episode "Stranded in Space." Master your skills in space and on the ground, then rescue the S.S. Azura! The Demo is restricted to the Federation faction.
Additionally, players that have allowed his or her game subscription lapse are welcome to play for free this weekend as Cryptic attempts to draw players back to the game. Various other reward and incentive programs have also begun which reward players with in-game items or currency for the amount of time played as well as for referring new players to the title. [Note: The link to the demo installer was removed by request of the developer.]

So for current players how much has the game changed? My only experience is from the beta but from what I read not much changed from that -> launch.

Is it worth the subscription? Or is it still a "Buy it, play the 30 days cause you'll see all the contnet by then, shelve it next to your Warhammer Online copy"?

hmm, thanks for the write up. I think I'll give the demo a whirl then. Didn't want to spend the download if it was still identical to the beta.

The fact that there are endgame raids in a Star Trek universe makes me want to go cry in a corner.

Yeah, those borg don't seem to be adapting. You can fight them in the same way, every day, and they never catch on.
