Call of Duty: Black Ops Announced, Due in November
by Alice O'Connor, Apr 30, 2010 4:19am PDTCall of Duty: World at War developer Treyarch has announced that the latest entry in the long-running shooter series is named Call of Duty: Black Ops and will be released on November 9, 2010, ahead of its revelation on tonight's episode of GameTrailers TV.
While the announcement gives no details on the game, it has long been rumoured that Treyarch's next Call of Duty title would be set in the Vietnam War era. PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 releases should be expected, considering the franchise's history.
While all seems in order at Treyarch, its sister studio--Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward--is in turmoil. After the studio's co-founders Vince Zampella and Jason West were fired by owner Activision in March, a large proportion of its staff quit--many to join West and Zampella's new studio, Respawn Entertainment. Activision is now being sued by thirty-eight current and former employees for unpaid royalties plus damages.
We'll no doubt learn more about Call of Duty: Black Ops on GameTrailers TV tonight.

I have no hope for this; it's going to be Jesse Stern'd and Hans Zimmer'd and achievement'd into the ground. No platforms mentioned, and Treyarch didn't really do anything good for CoD:WaW PC singleplayer beyond copying Call of Duty 2's interface and NPC bark sounds.
Oh well; Rage comes out in 2012, right?

I was referring to singleplayer, and Activision seems to think that all singleplayer FPS campaigns must look just like Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down. I'm getting really sick of all the Hollywood writing styles and stupid plot devices.
