Having provided ample demonstrations of Split/Second's explosive racing, publisher Disney Interactive turns our attention to the game's Survival Mode in the latest trailer.

Here, you're trying to pass semis that are constantly throwing out explosive barrels:

Developed by Black Rock, Split/Second hits PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 18.

I played the demo for this, it was boring as @ss. The driving - you just hold down accelerator and steer. The only reason to hit the break is to do slides to get extra points to smash other people and even then you get the full bar about 5 or 6 times a race without even trying. The concept is pretty good but if you are going to make a driving game one would think that you would make the driving in it at least semi challenging.
Maybe good multiplayer, but single player it blew.

I can't say a lot but after a full day testing (they are a local studio) I still wanted more. I think the handling of the cars is perfect, lots of weight and some skill required to hold a drift but easy enough to control your sliding car around a plummeting tower.

Once the ai gets more challenging you have to time your breaking to try and stay out of the way of their attacks as they use them more against you the more you play.

ive been watching this closely for a while now and was looking forward to the demo, but once i played it i was v dissappointed. I think (and hope) that the demo is a poor representation of the final game.

The one track that was available was ok, but there were no other tracks to compare it to, there was only one car, so again, nothing to compare its speed and handling to and the AI in the demo was poor. The first time i played i cam second due to a last minute attack that connected and the second race i was in the lead the whole time.

Got bored after the second race.

i'm now relying on reviews to inform me if it is actually any good.

Based on this demo alone, i wouldnt pick it up.

Disappointing if true based on how awesome their previous game was.
