      I increasingly like Gordon Brown purely as a reaction to how vicious and personal all the criticism of him is. He seems to have become the scapegoat for the nation, and no pundit or journalist can mention him without talking about how personally dislikeable he is.
      
      I always think he comes across like a serious, considered guy.
