    Cost is definitely a concern at the moment. The gear will be being carried on a bicycle, not on my back, so weight (and even volume to a lesser degree) is less of an issue than if I were backpacking.
    
    I'm not assuming the military-class stuff is the best for me. I'm looking for input since it seemed to be a viable match for my current modest cost/high versatility preference.
