Action RPG 'Mytheon' Open Beta Begins

Petroglyph Games' PC multiplayer action RPG Mytheon enters open beta today, as promised, with a 41MB client available from your friendly neighbourhood FileShack.

Big tree monsters, giant stone cephalopods.

The Panzer General: Allied Assault and Star Wars: Empire at War developer's first foray into the RPG genre is set in a world inspired by ancient Greek mythology, with three classes who must slay such fantastical monsters as gorgons and minotaurs for gold and items concealed about their person. There's also PvP play, if you like such things.

Playing within the first three days also nets you the chance to win fabulous prizes.

Mytheon will remain free when it launches this spring, supported by an unspecified "variety of purchase options for those who wish to further enhance their experience."

I must be an idiot, because I couldn't figure out how to download it from fileshack. It said my download was ready, but since I blocked all the ads, I had no idea where to click.... For anyone else who doesn't like the ads and javascript spam, you can get the client here: http://www.mytheongame.com/user/register, after you register you can download it without getting spammed by blocked ads.

Been in the closed beta for a couple weeks, though I've been neglecting the game. It has some interesting approaches to and ideas about combat, but it's an action rpg in the same way that Guild Wars is rather than a more Diabloey feel.

I am in the closed beta and think the game is very well done and fresh.

The spell and combat system is pretty awesome, nothing like it, you never have the same spells in you spell bar they are random for a poll and you keep collecting new ones and can even craft them.

The game is EPIC.
